10 Most Emotional Avengers: Endgame Moments
5. Black Widow's Death
Natasha Romanoff has had a hard time throughout her run in the MCU. Despite being one of the early few to be established in the Avengers back in 2010, it's only after Endgame that we've been treated to her own standalone movie - and that sadly now comes after her death. Black Widow's 'leap of faith' resulted after squabbling with Hawkeye on who would essentially get to commit suicide first, each wanting to lay down their life for the other so that the team could recover the soul stone for the time heist to come to fruition.
Managing to out-do him at the last second, Black Widow falls from Hawkeye's grasp and hits the stone below, treating us to one last shot of Nat looking up to her partner as blood pools around her head. The emotional gut punch of watching two agents - but more importantly, two best friends - fight each other quite literally to the death is surprisingly huge, especially since we already know the price required to uncover the stone from its hiding place before they even get there.
Black Widow was an integral, supporting member of the team, and although she might have deserved better throughout the saga - her heart-breaking demise still hits home hard. All she ever wanted was to make the red in her ledger right, and this was how she did it.
