10 Most Emotional Moments In Pixar Movies
3. Holding Hands – Toy Story 3
Toy Story 3 marked the end of the trilogy (until Toy Story 4 came out, obviously) and showed the depiction of death, both metaphorically and literally. First, the toys have to reluctantly accept that Andy is just too old to play with them anymore, and then they nearly get burned alive in an incinerator. The latter scene is both traumatic and horrifying as they fall into the pit, with no chance of escape.
It’s unbelievably painful watching each toy struggling to climb up to safety as we the audience can do nothing to help them, however the emotional moment is when they chose to accept their fate. One by one, the toys stop struggle and each over to hold each other’s hand. When Woody and Buzz finally take each other’s hand, close their eyes and wait for the inevitable, we are thankfully saved from the deus ex machina, that is “The Claaaaaaaaaaw”.
But this does not take away from the emotional weight of the scene and seeing our favourite characters accept death is not something you see every day and the scene sticks with you.
