10 Most Epic Uses Of F*ck In Movie History
9. Car Rental (Planes, Trains And Automobiles)
The Scene: A John Hughes classic, Planes, Trains and Automobiles features two comedic giants - John Candy and Steve Martin - at their very best, and nowhere is this more apparent, for Martin, during the now-infamous 'car rental' scene.
Neal Page (Martin) is just trying to get home for Thanksgiving. That's all he wants. Sadly, nothing seems to be going his way, and after trying to rent a car that's nowhere to be found in the rental parking lot, he heads to the rental station inside the airport and vents his frustration at the agent behind the desk.
What follows is a good two minutes of the f-word, with Page attempting to rent another vehicle - one with "four f*cking wheels and a seat", to be precise - as the rental agent stares on in a bewildered fashion.
The scene is pure gold; you're laughing before Page has even said a word, thanks to the lady's incessant joy contrasted with his pure anger and frustration.
Humour Rating: The fact that Martin stays relatively calm while spouting out dozens of f-bombs makes the swearing cut like a knife.
And, even though the lady hasn't really done anything wrong, you'll hate her (call it the 'Dolores Umbridge' effect - high-pitched tone, condescending voice, colourful fashion statement), and you'll be cheering as Martin takes her down. 8/10
