10 Most Evil Characters In The Lord Of The Rings

4. The Mouth Of Sauron

The Lord of the Rings the Mouth Of Sauron
New Line cinema

One of the most evil of all the servants of the Dark Lord only appeared in Jackson's extended version of The Return of the King. But he was one of the most disturbing characters in the entire franchise. He acts as the emissary of Dark Lord, and offers the Army of the West a chance to repent for their actions, if they surrender and submit to the will of Sauron.

His true origin is shrouded in mystery, but it was known he was once a mighty man; possibly one of the Númenóreans who had been corrupted by the Dark Lord. This would have made him far older than any living man. Tolkien described him as crueller then any orc, and one of the most trusted servants of the Dark Lord, who knew many of his place. During his life he was known as the Lieutenant of the Tower of Barad-dûr and had become so corrupted by evil he forgot even his own name.

In the films Aragorn puts an end to his miserable life by removing his head, but in the books his fate is unknown. Sequel opportunity?
