Guardians Of The Galaxy was the surprise hit of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with a cast of colorful characters, largely unknown to the general movie-going audience, being introduced to critical acclaim. Confronted by the Nova Corps upon his arrival at Xander, Ronan uses the Infinity Stone's power to wipe out the entire fleet of intergalactic peace-keepers in a single instant, something that his entire army of Necrocraft could not accomplish.
