1. Rabbits Are Mauled, Attacked And Eaten - Watership Down

This animated drama, an adaptation of the Richard Adams novel of the same name, is widely regarded as the most gruesome, gory, and disturbing children's film ever made. Starring a stellar cast of voice actors, including John Hurt and Nigel Hawthorne, Watership Down charts the consequences of an apocalyptic vision amongst a group of rabbits.

Fiver, a young rabbit voiced by Richard Briers, receives a premonition which he understands as a warning: the warren is in danger and the rabbits must search for a new, safer home. While their chief ignores their concerns, a small group of bunnies are able to make their escape.

However, as the group venture through the woods, they are met with much danger and violence: Violet, the only female amongst the group, is killed by a predatory hawk; another rabbit, Bigwig, later becomes caught in a trap.

Later, during a climatic battle segment, two rabbits savagely fight to the death, one of which is killed by a bloody attack to the throat.

Almost immediately after, multiple rabbit soldiers from the Efrafa warren are brutally and savagely killed by a farm dog, who then tosses around their bloodied corpses. These seriously grisly scenes are totally disturbing, and the film remains infamous for these unexpectedly graphic depictions of death.
