10 Most Gruesome Deaths From Kids' Movies

4. Hopper Is Eaten Alive By Baby Birds - A Bug's Life

Pixar

A Bug's Life is an underrated Pixar film which examines the efforts of an individualistic misfit ant, Flik (Dave Foley), to protect his colony from ravenous grasshoppers, especially their cruel leader, Hopper (Kevin Spacey).

In a search for strong and resilient insects to protect his colony, Flik unwittingly hires a group of circus-performing insects, mistaking the group for warriors.

Ultimately both the ants and circus performers are able to protect the Queen and the colony, effectively fighting back against the ruthless grasshoppers. Hopper, their leader, meets a surprisingly grisly fate.

A ravenous bird chases after the cold-hearted head of the grasshopper gang, eventually managing to capture him. Taking Hopper to her nest, the bird then feeds him (alive!) to her hungry chicks as the grasshopper screams in terror.

Although we do not actually see his death, it is easy to imagine how horrifyingly painful and terrifying this fate would be: Hopper is literally chewed and chomped to death by the evidently ravenous (and, it must be said, admittedly adorable) baby birds.
