10 Most Gruesome Zombie Movie Deaths

Fresh off the festival circuit - and set for wider release in early 2022 - this Taiwanese horror movie follows the effects of a zombie uprising in Taiwan. At the tail-end of a year-long pandemic, the citizens of Taiwan (and the world?) are knocked for six when the virus mutates - turning the infected into black-eyed, gnashing, snarling rage monsters (think 28 Days Later meets Garth Ennis's Crossed comics).

The bloodiest, nastiest movie of the year - perhaps any year - Rob Jabbaz's zombie movie opens hard, with the zombie apocalypse kicking off in an unassuming diner. As the patrons are attacked by slathering monsters - then themselves turning - Jabbaz unveils the movie's most horrifying set-piece - chucking the contents of a bubbling hot deep fat fryer into one unsuspecting victim's face. It's the most gruesome moment in a film chock full of them - a statement of intent, and a harrowing start to the best zombie horror film in years.
