10 Most Hated Star Wars Characters
6. Watto
Even if Watto wasn't a garish, potentially offensive digital caricature, he'd still be the slave trader who owned Anakin Skywalker (Jake Lloyd) and his mother Shmi (Pernilla August). What better reason could there be to loathe a character upfront?
But Watto isn't just an a**hole you're supposed to dislike - he's one of the several irritating CGI characters pepped throughout the movie, and also one who happens to be an unsavory stereotype, clearly approximating a cartoonish exaggeration of a Jewish man.
Between his grotesque design and grating voice, he's the epitome of annoying non-human Star Wars characters - well, almost - despite making a slightly more interesting, decade-aged appearance in Attack of the Clones.
With some slight rejigging he could be removed from the prequel trilogy entirely and immediately improve it. You're supposed to hate Watto to an extent, but George Lucas clearly didn't realise quite how much derision his creation would attract.
