10 Most Hated Storylines In MCU History

7. What If... Killmonger Rescued Tony Stark (What If...?)

By and large, the MCU’s expansion into the world of Disney+ has been a rousing success. It has offered a different approach to story-telling, and has given those typically supporting characters that arguably wouldn’t sell tickets to their own movie a chance to really shine.

However, it has certainly not been all positive. Though WandaVision, Loki, Hawkeye, and so far Moon Knight have been incredibly well-received, fans were more critical of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier and What If…?, the latter of which is easily the most inconsistent of the shows so far.

Arguably the worst episode followed the story of Erik Killmonger saving Tony Stark’s life in Afghanistan, resulting in his immediate promotion to the top of the Stark Industries tree and eventually a place in the Wakandan royal family.

In simple terms, the story made no sense, and felt incredibly rushed. It was like it was there only to introduce this version of Killmonger to audiences, with both eyes on the Guardians of the Multiverse crossover at the end of the season rather than any interest in telling a compelling story in its own right.
