10 Most Hated Storylines In MCU History

2. Natasha & Bruce's Romance (Avengers: Age Of Ultron)

Three years after the Avengers first came together, the movie’s sequel brought a lot of new aspects to the table. Too many in fact. From new adversaries, to new teammates, Thor’s cave swimming and Hawkeye’s family, there wasn’t much room for any unnecessary fluff.

Why then, was there a terrible romance angle shoe-horned in when there wasn’t time, and neither character needed it. Did Joss Whedon think Bruce Banner and Natasha Romanoff didn’t have enough to do in the movie already?

The two characters had some history already, in that Nat was sent to recruit Bruce to the team in the first instance, and she was who the Hulk first attacked when he changed into the Other Guy on the Quinjet, but that doesn’t automatically mean they should be forced into a romance angle.

Bruce apparently completely forgot about Betty Ross, and Natasha fell for Bruce because of reasons, all resulting in a painfully poor, gratuitous romance angle that was there for the sake of it. This completely defied logic, and it wasn’t even the worst unnecessary romance angle the MCU has ever shoved down our throats, there was something much worse just one year later…
