10 Most Hated Storylines In MCU History

3. Time Travel (Avengers: Endgame)

In the year between Infinity War and Endgame, fans were given plenty of time to theorise and guess as to how the Avengers would ultimately defeat Thanos and the fallen heroes would return. It was a strong possibility that time travel would be involved.

Thanks to Scott Lang’s experience in the Quantum Realm, the Avengers had a real chance to go back in time and re-assemble all of the Infinity Stones. However, time travel stories are always difficult, and like so many before it, Endgame was not immune to the usual pitfalls.

Time travel stories have to be absolutely water-tight, and must stick within their defined rules, otherwise the plot holes become too messy and the whole thing falls apart. Though Hulk tried to explain the MCU’s time travel rules, before the end of the movie most of these were ultimately broken anyway.

The worst part of this for fans however, was the fact that Steve Rogers used this new time travel ability to go back in time and be with Peggy Carter. It was a great ending for him in theory, but he basically sat and did nothing as the world suffered through war and destruction, something that was completely against every fiber of his character.
