5. Scar Gets Eaten Alive By Hyenas - The Lion King
Scar is one of my all-time favourite movie villains, mainly because he's voiced by the one and only Jeremy Irons, but also because he really seems to relish his role as the bad guy - it's not like he's doing a half-assed job or anything. He wants total domination, and he's willing to murder his brother - and his child nephew - to get it. Scar is renowed, of course, for his legion of loyal, almost Nazi-esque followers, who are made up of mentally-challenged hyenas, two of whom are voiced by Whoopi Goldberg and Cheech Marin (c'mon, it was the '90s). At the end of
The Lion King, and at the last point where Scar might've just scraped through in one piece, he makes one crucial mistake: he blames all his scheming and plotting on the hyenas, who decide that they are at least clever enough to know that he's betraying and framing them for all his evil deeds. As a result, they offer a simple solution... hungry from all the famine associated with Scar's reign, they attack and presumably eat him. It's a dark, primal moment, and one that is likely to induce panic in a small child.
