1. Charles Mortdecai - Mortdecai
So here it is: through the act of its own chronological existence, Johnny Depp's most recent performance as Charles Mortdecai in the Godawful "comedy" Mortdecai stands as his most insufferable to date. It also comes out on the top due to its inherent "Are you f*cking kidding me?" factor. Has Johnny Depp lost all sense of self-awareness? In what way did he think that Mortdecai would be a good idea? How did this project even come about in the wake of badly received performances such as Tonto in The Lone Ranger or Barnabas Collins in Dark Shadows? Did anybody really believe it would do anything but flop? As a character, Mortdecai serves as a sort of amalgamation of all of his most ghastly creations. It's almost as if Depp and director David Koepp purposely set out to play homage to all the irksome protagonists that Depp has embodied over the course of the last decade. In short, it's an embarrassing, forgettable and ultimately shocking (for all the wrong reasons) performance - the kind with the power to end careers. Hopefully Mortdecai, for all its awfulness, will serve a singular great purpose: it will act as the definitive wake-up for Johnny Depp the Actor, who desperately needs to reinvent himself before it really is too late and people give up hope entirely.
