10 Most Insulting Movie Sequels Ever

1. Paranormal Activity 4

Every long-running horror franchise is bound to run out of ideas sooner or later, and the microbudget found-footage Paranormal Activity series is no exception. While the first few films followed the standard law of diminishing returns, they nonetheless delivered scares. Sure, the formulaic haunted house instalments were unable to reach the terrifying heights of the Spielberg-approved original, but sequels one and two did add interesting lore for the franchise to explore and didn’t disappoint too hard.

However, this lucky streak soon came crashing to an end with the fourth instalment. Widely viewed as the worst of the series, the camera is wielded this time around by a pair of insufferable teens. The duo tries to uncover the source of strange goings-on throughout their neighbourhood, but you won’t care.

It’s just as well audiences didn’t care about the film’s mystery, as it is never explained or even revealed before the film’s abrupt cut-to-black ending. Adding nothing to the overarching story running from film to film, Paranormal Activity 4 is also the slowest of the films, grinding a predictable plot out to almost-interminable length.
