10 Most Intelligent Horror Movie Monsters

6. The Gremlins - Gremlins

Even though gremlins are among the most iconic movie monsters of the 1980s, the troublesome critters are rarely recognised for their intelligence. This isn't much of a surprise, since the mutated mogwai have a deep fondness for childish things, such as pranks, cartoons, and cookies.

Although gremlins are immature, they are far from stupid. In fact, they have proven to be more adaptable than humans on many occasions. Without any training whatsoever, the gremlins figured out how to operate snowploughs, movie equipments, guns, and chainsaws.

While hanging out at a bar, Stripe and his lackeys can be seen playing poker. How did they figure out the rules? They were literally born yesterday!

But gremlins aren't just smart - they're surprisingly strategic. When one of the creatures realises Billy's Mom is hunting him, he places a noisy toy in a stocking. Believing the gremlin is lurking inside the decorated sock, the mother is distracted long enough for the fanged beast to pounce on her. When the gremlins' leader, Stripe, realises water causes his species to multiply, he deliberately gets wet, knowing he would be more dangerous if he had his own army to command.
