The Halloween franchise INVENTED the iconic slow-but-suspenseful chase scene, with the slow-moving Michael Myers terrifyingly stalking his prey as if he had all the time in the world.

This slow-motion version of a chase became a horror trope that is now used in pretty much every stalker-based slasher movie. So when Halloween II came out, director Rick Rosenthal cleverly found a way to enhance that trademark to delicious effect.

As the movie comes close to its end, the final chase begins. In a clever move to make this sequence even slower than any from the original movie, the protagonist is similarly slowed down to the speed of Michael. That's because at this point, Laurie is completely drugged up on pain killers and is limping around on a broken ankle.

The ensuing chase where Michael stomps leisurely after the leaden-stepped final girl is contrasted with a booming and quick paced score. How they manage to make a scene with such sedated action and still fill the audience with such suspense is incredibly impressive. The scene will remain confusingly disturbing in the mind's of fans for eternity.
