10 Most Inventive Chase Sequences In Slasher Movies
9. The Babysitter: Killer Queen - Speed Boat Chase
There are several inventive sequences in the sequel to the surprisingly well received McG directed horror/comedy, The Babysitter. The director is clearly a horror movie fan, as his Netflix slasher efforts are filled with classic film references, and he obviously knows the traditional beats that make up a good slasher movie.
So a chase scene was inevitable in his follow-up to The Babysitter, subtitled Killer Queen, but true to his form, McG wanted to subvert expectations.
In this flick, the lake scenery is used to perfection to enhance the film's grander nature. When our main character Cole and his new friend Phoebe manage to highjack a speedboat, the shirtless killer (and Cole super-fan) Max dives into a dingy attached to the back of the boat.
As the heroes struggle to speed to the shore, Max uses his crazy strength to pull the rope to get closer and closer to the terrified kids.
In a chase scene that features no actual running away, the audience is still left reeling as Max gets closer and closer to Cole and Phoebe. In another genre-subverting moment, instead of letting themselves get caught when Max reaches the boat, the kids are proactive and manage to take control of the situation.
In a delightfully gory moment, the two friends work together to set Max's head alight with silly string and proceed to suck him head first into the boat's motors - spraying blood and guts all over the pair.
