10 Most Memorable Postmen on Film & TV

1. Cliff Clavin - Cheers

A blast though all these postmen are, it's got to go to Cliff Clavin, the mailman played so brilliantly by John Ratzenberger on the classic show Cheers. Cliff spends the majority of his time enraging others at the bar with his tiresome anecdotes about various things - including the postal service - that are at best somewhat suspect, and at worst, complete lies. He still lives with his mother despite being a middle-aged man, appearing to live an entirely unfulfilled life, and ends up being the butt of a large number of the show's jokes, but most of all, he's the most hilarious anti-advertisement for the mail service. In effect, he's the worst mailman on this list - perhaps even moreso than Newman - but he's without question the most memorable. Who can forget the incident when he gave up on the love of his life because marrying her would involve moving up North and having to work for Canada Post? It's incidents like this that ensure Ratzenberger's Cliff will forever be remembered as the premiere postman of pop culture. Who is your favourite fictional postman?
