For Xavier Samuel's Brent Mitchell, he found himself on the receiving end of some insane affection in 2009's The Loved Ones.

This Australian horror offering from writer/director Sean Byrne sees Brent in the crosshairs of his deranged classmate, Lola Stone (Robin McLeavy).

After politely turning down Lola's offer to go to the school dance with her - y'know, because he's got a girlfriend - Brent ends up knocked out, kidnapped and then held captive and under sedation in the Stone family kitchen. It's not just Lola that the out-of-it Bret is faced with, for her father Eric (John Brumpton) is there for company, too.

What makes this father/daughter dynamic particularly creepy, is how the pair refer to each other as Daddy and Princess while admitting incestuous thoughts towards one another. Added to that, the near-comatose Bright Eyes seen sat at the kitchen table throughout Brent's ordeal is revealed to be the matriarch of the family - with a jealous Lola eventually smothering her mother to death.

All of this makes The Loved Ones enough of an uncomfortable viewing experience, and that's without even getting to gnarly acts such as drilling through skulls, hammering nails through feet, and carving initials into people's chests.
