7. Ready Or Not

Ghost Ship Captain
Fox Searchlight Pictures

We start this one off with a clever little fakeout. Two young boys are sprinting through a dark, candle-lit mansion. The place is an absolute maze, which is less than ideal when it seems that a mysterious figure is chasing after you.

The older of the boys shoves the little’un into a cupboard, instructing him not to come out. What could be happening? A murderer is on the loose? A monster is chasing after the kids? Not exactly.

As soon as the cupboard door closes we see that the boys aren’t victims at all, in fact they’re on the side of the victors. A suited up young man collapses in front of Daniel, the older boy, begging for his help as an arrow protrudes painfully from his torso.

Daniel, it turns out, is a horrible little grass and gives up the man’s location right away. Watching in silence as a group of masked adults (and one screaming bride) shoot the man again before dragging him into the darkness.

It’s pretty messed up to involve your young kids in your traditional murder rituals if you ask me, even more so when you’re going to make them help you try to kill their own bride thirty years later.
