10 Most Messed Up Horror Movie Openings

Compared to some of the others on this list you may thing this is a little tame, and in a way you’re right. There’s no gross murders, no mysterious monsters - just a really rage-inducing bit of cinema.

The most messed up bit of this film is how it instantly, without any remorse, kills off the people that we spent the previous film getting to know and care about - including a child!

Aliens sees four people make it to the end and into cryostasis: Ripley, Newt (the kid), Hicks and the android Bishop. At the start of Alien 3, a fire starts on their ship and the four are ejected in an escape pod which crashes on a planet. Ripley is found and rescued by a doctor, and told that she is the only survivor - Newt is dead, Bishop is in the bin, and Hicks has been absolutely splattered all over the place.

After all the drama with Ripley refusing to let Newt come to harm, never abandoning her and making sure she gets to safety, it seems a bit of a kick in the teeth to open the sequel with Newt immediately meeting her sudden end and then barely addressing it.
