10 Most Nightmarish Horror Movie Monsters

5. It - It Follows

Unlike the rest of its peers on this list, the creature of It Follows doesn't take any one form. This psycho-sexual thriller's STDemon takes on multiple faces in its pursuit of heroine Jay (Maika Monroe), each one more chilling than the last.

Passed on via sex, it hunts down and viciously murders each of its carriers, one by one, starting at the most recent. The only way to slow it down? Pass it on. Visible only to those it follows, the unnamed entity looks human, but is anything but.

As if the entity's relentless pursuit wasn't enough, there's also its habit of turning up entirely nude, standing on rooftops for no reason, and the fact that it can come after its intended victims anywhere, at any time. One of the film's most chilling sequences is set on a wide open beach, in broad daylight. The creature is unknowable, unbeatable and unstoppable. And, unlike with your more organic STDs, the thing can't be prevented by wearing a condom either.
