So, with Captain America and Thor absent, who leads The Avengers? There are conflicting reports about Iron Man. Some say he will have his own team of government approved Avengers (just like in the comics), while others point to Tony Stark taking on an authoritarian role of sorts in the Marvel Cinematic Universe perhaps as the head of a reformed S.H.I.E.L.D. As for the New Avengers though, it will be Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange who leads the team by the time Avengers: Infinity War rolls around. His movie is clearly going to be more important than most expected, and while Strange feels like a surprising choice of leader, you can understand why Marvel wants the popular actor as the face of Phase 3.
