10 Most Outrageous Oscar Snubs

5. 2017 Awards' Exclusion Of Amy Adams

Whether or not 2016 will go down as a vintage year for film remains to be seen. Movies like La La Land and that Star Wars one have captured the public's attention and money, but the rest is up to history. One thing's for sure, though: actress Amy Adams certainly impressed – that is, unless you're a member of the Oscar nominations committee.

Perhaps the biggest surprise in the 2017 nominations lists was the complete lack of Adams. Having torn up the screen in critical darling Nocturnal Animals, while simultaneously impressing in sci fi thinker (and critics' fave in its own right) Arrival, one would have to assume the actress was sure to garner at least one nod. But it was not to be.

Did her stellar work in two disparate movies work to her detriment? Could the rabid Adams fans on the committee simply not reach a consensus between the two films? Was it simply unavoidable that she'd lose her place to Meryl Streep in That Film About The Woman Who Sings Bad With The Guy From The Big Bang Theory In It?

Adams is a five time Oscar nominee with a keen eye for interesting roles, so it's unlikely she'll be too down about this year's omission. Nevertheless, a world where Gwyneth Paltrow currently has more Academy Awards seems a little off.
