10 Most Over-Rated Movies Of 2016

1. Sausage Party

Seth Rogen’s supermarket set comedy Sausage Party, about a group of anthropomorphic foodstuffs led by talking hot dog Frank trying to figure out the meaning of their existence, was the surprise hit of the summer this year. Hyped up by its claim to fame as the first ever R-rated CGI animation, the movie stormed past fellow overrated flick Pete’s Dragon during its opening weekend eventually raking in a rather respectable $140.5 million against a relatively modest $19 million budget. Despite its puerile humour and four-letter word laden script, it even managed to win over critics too.

While Sausage Party does try its hand at exploring deeper messages about the nature of religious belief systems all the while delivering a good few laughs, it’s really the kind of film best enjoyed after smoking the mother of all marijuana cigarettes.

With that in mind, it’s probably not too surprising to learn than Rogen and co-writers Evan Goldberg and Jonah Hill came up with the idea for Sausage Party while under the influence of the devil’s lettuce. And like most ideas conceived under the influence, whether writing Sausage Party or going to see Sausage Party, in the sober light of day they don’t look so good.
