10 Most Overlooked Moments of the Original Spider-Man Trilogy

8. The Broom Closet (Spider-Man 2)

http://youtu.be/p7IireBsC3Q Spider-Man 2 is all about how it's Peter Parker who just can't catch a break. And what better way to open a film with that subject than have a protagonist play a pizza delivery man? And while the delivery sequence is humorous in itself, it's the broom closet that really takes the cake (skip to 2:25 on the video). The scene sometimes gets criticism for being overly long, but it only compliments the fact that Peter's life really is falling apart at pretty much every level. Even when he thinks he's won, even when he thinks he's made it in time, life just keeps throwing brooms and mops on top of him. And with Emily Deschanel as the stoic receptionist and Parker's wonderfully perky "Pizza time!" when he puts all the boxes down, it's a scene that delivers the humor and also pushes forward the expectations for the rest of the movie. And you can't help but feel sorry for the poor guy when he unlatches the boxes and heads out on his way. It's a scene that's sometimes confused with when he's in the elevator with Hal Sparks, but I personally find this one to be much more faithful to the rest of the film.

Cameron Carpenter is an aspiring screenwriter, current film and journalism student, and self-diagnosed cinephile, which only sounds bad in certain circles. Devoted fan of comics, movies, theater, Jesus Christ, Sidney Lumet, and Peter O'Toole, he sometimes spends too much time on his Scribd and comicbookmovie.com, but doesn't think you're one to judge, devoted reader. You can follow him on Twitter to watch him talk to people you didn't know exist. Oh, and Daredevil is quite the big deal around here (my head).
