10 Most Overrated Directors Working Today

2. Tim Burton

burton tim Once upon a time, there was a talented director called Tim Burton. Tim Burton was quirky, and he liked quirky things. Quirky things like, oh, fairytales and aliens, and stories about dead people and men with scissors for hands! The mind of Tim Burton was such a creative place to be. And Tim Burton made several movies using these ideas: nearly all of them were great. "Hooray, Tim Burton," said everybody. "I'm so happy," said Tim Burton. "Thank you kindly." One day - some time around, oh, 2001, Tim Burton decided that he didn't want to make good movies anymore, and that he only wanted to make them with Johnny Depp. Tim Burton decided that using practical sets wasn't such a good idea, either, because practical sets were not the kind of things he had floating about in his dreams, and that using CGI was just, like, better. He decided that his next project should be based on Alice In Wonderland, because that's the kind of decision that Tim Burton makes. Tim Burton instantly knew that he wanted Johnny Depp to play a wild rendition of the Mad Hatter, and Johnny Depp knew that Tim Burton knew that. The film they made together grossed over $1 billion dollars, although it was considered a crime against movie-making in general and its source material. "What happened?" said everybody, though they would still pay to see his movies anyway. "I don't know," said Tim Burton. "But thank you kindly, because you still paid to see my movies anyway."
