2. "You Just Don't Get It, Do You?"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=zgPiHyqx54M In its countless variations ("You just/still/really don't get it, do you?"), this is one of the Kings of overused movie dialogue. The above montage contains a whopping 8 minutes of its use in popular cinema, dictating that it really needs to be retired once and for all. It usually conveys that a character has been naive/ignorant/stupid during the movie, and is finding out a revelation that usually changes the scenario and pushes the plot forward. It's one of those annoying pieces of placeholder dialogue that feels like it should be removed in later drafts once screenwriters think of a wittier way to convey the condescending relaying of information. It's instead a buffer for exposition, though I have trouble understanding why it's so maddenningly popular.
