Friday the 13th: A New Beginning isn't remembered fondly since it's the only entry in the franchise where Jason Voorhees is entirely absent. This time around, the inhabitants of Crystal Lake are being hunted by a copycat killer.

Although the kills are pretty derivative, there's one that's exceptionally brutal. After Eddie and Tina venture into the forest to have sex, Eddie heads to the creek to wash himself. When he returns, he discovers his girlfriend has been murdered.

Before he has a chance to react, the copycat wraps a belt around Eddie's eyes, before tying it to the tree trunk behind him. The Jason Voorhees wannabe then uses a thick branch to twist the belt like a winch. As it tightens more and more, it crushes Eddie's skull and causes blood to spurt from his eyes. Unable to free himself, all Eddie can do is scream in pain before his cranium is squashed like a watermelon.

This is one of those murders that isn't as gory as you may remember, because it focuses more on the murderer twisting the belt, rather than Eddie's reaction. However, this makes the scene more horrifying. As you watch the copycat summoning every scrap of strength he harbours to twist the belt as tightly as possible, it helps the viewer to imagine the level of pain Eddie must have endured in his final moments.
