Sleepaway Camp's twist ending was such a shocker, it's hard to mention the movie without the conversation deviating towards it. This is a shame, since there are some notable moments in this slasher that deserve more attention.

While an introvert called Angela is staying at a summer camp, a mysterious killer starts picking off campers one by one. Because Judy is the camp bully, viewers suspected she would suffer an exceptionally gruelling death. Although this is the case, nobody deserved to go out the way she did.

While Judy sleeps in her cabin, the killer enters and picks up a curling iron. At first, you'd assume the killer will use the heated tong to burn Judy's face or stuff it into her mouth.

Instead, the unseen murderer crams the curling iron into Judy's private parts, incinerating her from within. Because the death was too graphic to be shown, all we see is the shadow of Judy's arms wrenching in pain as the curling iron enters her body. The decision to depict minimal gore makes this scene more horrifying, as Judy's death is entirely left to the viewer's imagination.
