1. The Monkey-Cat - The Fly

J Jonah Jameson Spider-Man
Fox

Considering how stomach-churningly disturbing David Cronenberg's The Fly is, it goes without saying that a deleted scene cut for being too graphic has to be really out there.

And indeed, The Fly's infamous "monkey-cat" deleted scene sees Seth Brundle (Jeff Goldblum) attempt to figure out a way to reverse his ongoing transformation into a human-fly hybrid by fusing a baboon with a cat.

The creature that emerges is an horrific chimera of the two animals, which soon enough attacks Seth, forcing him to beat it to death with a pipe.

According to Cronenberg, test audiences responded negatively to the scene and it made them feel decidedly less sympathetic towards Seth, who had already killed one baboon earlier in the film through his experiments. That he then brutally beat the second one to death was just too much.

We see only a few brief seconds of the monkey-cat before Seth puts it down for the count, but it's enough to appreciate that this thing is one hell of an abomination.
