10 Most Paused Moments In Marvel Cinematic Universe Movies

4. Thanos' Big Reveal - The Avengers

Marvel Studios

Remember back when you didn't really know who Thanos was, or why he would be important in later movies in the canon, or how naive you were in general about the sheer size and scope that Kevin Feige and Marvel Studios had envisioned for the Marvel Cinematic Universe post-Avengers? Oh, those were the days. So when bad guy Thanos turned and grinned into the camera at the end of The Avengers (and just mid-way through the credits of all places!), it felt like audiences were taking a step into a much larger world - one where the likes of Iron Man and the Hulk could find themselves battling alien forces alongside more space-based characters like Thor.

Everyone paused this moment come DVD release day, though, purely because they wanted to get a look at Thanos in better detail. And essentially, he's a scary-looking blue dude who still hasn't had a chance to shine within the MCU context, and presumably won't until The Avengers: Infinity War lands in 2018. Only three years to wait for that, then. In the meantime, feel free to go back and pause Thanos as much as you like - it's okay!
