10 Most Paused Zombie Horror Movie Moments

8. Climbing The Wall - World War Z

While the quality of 2013’s Brad Pitt-led zombie vehicle, World War Z, is debatable (as its own things and as a cinematic representation of Max Brooks’ 2006 novel), there’s no denying the breathtaking spectacle of some of its main scenes.

Namely, the part where an overwhelming mass of monsters ascends a towering cement barrier and lays waste to dozens of Jerusalem residents (whose pleasant chanting, ironically enough, instigated the assault). All the while, Israeli soldiers do their best to combat the looming massacre, but to almost no avail.

The whole sequence warrants close analysis since it’s so elaborately yet cleanly staged; nonetheless, it’s director Marc Forster’s initial peek at the horde piling on top of each other as they mount the gargantuan barricade that’s most awe-inspiring.

Sure, it’s just a quick bit of CGI, but the massively epic scale of it – akin to something from The Lord of the Rings trilogy – can’t be devalued. It truly cements how outnumbered and overpowered the civilians and militia are about to be.
