10 Most Paused Zombie Horror Movie Moments

9. Batter Up - Train To Busan

2016’s Train to Busan is among the most celebrated zombie films – and most celebrated South Korean films – in recent memory. Centring on a workaholic father (Seok-woo) trying to reconnect with his young daughter (Soo-Ahn) as they take a train from Seoul to Busan, its relatively well-developed characters and emotional payoffs elevate it above many other modern movies in the genre.

Obviously, it’s full of gloriously graphic fights and frights, too, both of which come into play during the awesome melee scene. In it, Seok-woo, tough guy Sang-Hwa, and timid high school baseball player Min Yong-Guk battle their way through several train cars infested by savage undead passengers.

The special effects, creative camera angles, and persistent sense of anxiety alone merit a shot-by-shot investigation; as with another title appearing further down this list, there are multiple things happening in the foreground and background, too, so it’s damn near impossible to catch it all during a standard playthrough.

Plus, the manner in which each of the trio characteristically tussles with their foes – Sang-Hwa uses his fists, Seok-woo uses a makeshift shield, and Min Yong-Guk uses his bat – boosts the tremendous brutality and triumphant catharsis of their journey.
