The shadow hanging over the MCU is the question of what happens when a major actor leaves, and how will it affect the movies? Of course there have already been some casting shakeups, but its doubtful anyone complained when Ed Norton was traded for Mark Ruffalo or Terrence Howard getting a Don Cheadle style facelift. But actors inevitably age, and while they may be having lots of well-paid fun theyll grow bored playing the same character eventually. The most likely candidate to exit first is Robert Downey, Jr., since by the time Infinity War Part II comes along hell have been playing Tony Stark for eleven years. Hes been a vital part of the series since the first Iron Man and clearly loves playing the character, but it seems doubtful hell stick around beyond Phase 3. Chris Evans initially appeared shaky about taking on Captain America, but he loves working with Marvel and appears open to sticking around. He isnt signed beyond Phase 3 however, and the rumours Bucky will take his place refuse to go away. Its an issue Marvel will have to deal with eventually, and nobody is going to envy the casting agent who has to find a new Tony Stark.
