This film revolves around the small settlement of Grovetown, Georgia, and the sudden suicide epidemic that seems to have some link to that mysterious black book. Those with any connection to the book are vulnerable to its cursed effects, in which the victim is stalked by their doppelganger and influenced to kill themselves.

Without needing to possess people, or even really physically harm them, the curse’s doppelgangers force the unfortunate victims to end their lives in a range of sadistic ways.

With cries of witchcraft and religious fanaticism, the doppelgangers aren’t the only ones posing a risk to the townspeople - they may just be a risk to each other too.
