As we file into the latest Scorcese or Tarantino epic we often ignore the fact that these storied greats are almost on their way out. Quentin Tarantino himself has even said that directing is a young mans game and that he, much to sadness around the world, will be retiring when hes around 50 years old. History will remember these modern iconic auteurs just as we still remember Orson Welles, but the question is; whos next? Sure, we have modern greats like Christopher Nolan and Darren Aronofsky that have been around the block but what about the young blood; those that have only made somewhere between 1-3 films and are still getting their feet wet? Even though we openly criticize Hollywood a bit, there are still some bright and creative directors out there that have already floored us with a fantastic showing. I have no doubt in my mind that a good portion of these selections are destined for even bigger and better things, whether its as soon as this year or further down their body of work. Without further ado, here are 10 of those directors that you should keep an eye on as they may shape the future of cinema.
