8. Doc's Lab - Back To The Future

Incredible at setting the tone of Back to the Future's bizarre, quirky fun, it's opening scene is one that takes us through Doc Brown's laboratory, moving past countless clocks that are somewhat of a giveaway that we're dealing with some serious time-travel here.

Full to the brim with contraptions, like an automatic dog feeder and a morning system that delivers coffee and news, the lab is an insight into Doc's erratic behaviour, piquing curiosity into what he's exactly gotten himself into with a crate of stolen plutonium.

Then of course it's all blown to bits by an unattended Marty as he fiddles an amplifier system to its max levels and strums one out in front of it.

It's a great introduction to two characters without ever actually seeing their faces, and setting up an environment and storyline that hooks audiences in with less than 5 minutes of screen time. Aside from that though, it's also a sneaky moment of foreshadowing - showing us a clock with a dangling man that looks a lot like Doc attempting to help Marty get back to the future at the film's climax. Past, present, future, it's all there if you know where to look.
