10 Most Rewatchable Movies Of The '90s

9. Home Alone (1990)

Pulp Fiction Mia Wallace Uma Thurman
20th Century Fox

Home Alone is one of those movies that became an inexplicable box office phenomenon when it landed during the 1990 festive period.

As a slapstick comedy it had its moments, but not enough of them to explain takings of $476.7 million against a budget of just $18 million and overnight stardom for a fresh-faced kid called Macaulay Culkin.

And yet over the years Home Alone has emerged as a festive favourite, essential viewing year after year in households across the world.

So what hidden qualities have helped this average comedy become as important as turkey dinners and eggnog at Christmas?

Is it the all-ages appeal? Kevin McCallister's cunning traps? Or the sweet, underlying message about the importance of family at Christmas?

It's all of these things, but above all it's the fact Home Alone will always make you feel like a child inside, no mater how old you've become since it was released.
