Cinephiles debate about anything and everything connected to their favourite flicks. So there’s nothing especially wrong with people debating Captain America wielding Mjolnir (ridiculous doesn’t mean bad), but it’s a little silly for some people to become so entrenched with no discernible facts to go off.

What’s undeniable is that Cap is worthy enough in Endgame, but only makes it budge in Age Of Ultron. The central debate is this: was he always worthy and just being polite, or has he grown in worthiness since then?

One thing we know for sure is that in the MCU, worthiness is not a fixed state. In the first Thor movie, the Norse God himself can’t lift it.

But then, it doesn’t budge even a little. So can you be just a little bit worthy? Was Steve just being nice? It would explain how he knew to call Mjolnir in the heat of the battle, but for this to be true he’d have to try to lift it, realise he could, stop so suddenly no one but Thor notices, and then continue to act like he was trying.

It’s impossible to truly know, and fans who are convinced they’re right either way are essentially just guessing.
