10 Most Ridiculous Horror Adversaries In Movie History

9. Vending Machine - Maximum Overdrive (1986)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=at3OiAvUjH4 "This machine just called me an a**hole!" At one time or another, we've all likely found ourselves disillusioned by vending machines, 'cause isn't it really annoying when they steal your money and why don't we have models as good as the ones in Japan? Still, a vending machine isn't particularly frightening, nor has anybody ever looked at one and thought, "Gosh, I wonder what would happen if this thing came to life?" Well, actually, one man has, and his name is Stephen King. And though King didn't (thank God) write a story based purely around that of an evil vending machine and its quest to overtake a small American town, his short story "Trucks" does envision a scenario in which the world's machinery turns against humanity. Presumably unable to find anybody who wanted to take on a movie with such a flimsy premise, King opted to direct Maximum Overdrive himself (his only directional effort), a flick which - at one point - pits a baseball coach against a vending machine. The coach is pelted with soda cans continuously until he's likely rendered brain dead, and then ol' vendy proceeds to attack an entire kids' baseball team, knocking one kid straight into Hell with precision aim (and to be fair, the kid probably deserved it for laughing at his coach).
