10 Most Ridiculous James Bond Villain Schemes

6. "Genius" Can't Keep Secrets - Tomorrow Never Dies

The Plot: Stage a coup d€™état to carve out control over all of China's media in a bid to become king of the news ratings. In a thinly veiled poke at real-life media mogul Rupert Murdoch, Jonathan Pryce headlined the bad guys' team as Elliot Carver €“ a man who wants top ratings and newspaper syndication figures so badly that he's willing to put China and Britain at war with each other. Turns out the Pryce isn't always right. Carver wants to replace the current Chinese government with one more favourable for his broadcasting plans. To do this, he uses one of his satellites to send a British frigate off-course into Chinese waters where it is promptly sank and one of its missiles stolen. He'll then launch the missile into China to take out the current government whereby one of his secret Chinese supporters will step in to hammer out a deal that sees him gain mass media control. Surely Carver, knowing how a quote can be turned around in the press against you, wouldn't tell everyone his evil plan€ Not even the news man couldn't resist that blunder.
