4. Aim For The Bushes - The Other Guys (2010)

The reason that this Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg starring comedy is called The Other Guys is that they€™re not supposed to be the heroes. It€™s Chris Danson (Dwayne €˜The Rock€™ Johnson) and his partner P.K. Highsmith (Samuel L. Jackson) who are the hotshot, maverick, impossibly cool cops who, despite their tendency to cause unbelievable amounts of property damage to the city and its inhabitants in the apprehension of small time criminals, are considered the best on the NYPD. The premise of the movie is to ask what might happen if the actual Guys were killed in one of those opening set pieces that set out the stall for movies like this, and the job of actually catching the bad guys fell to, not just second stringers, but the dregs of the force: the Other Guys. Of course, in order to get to that point, you have to kill the badasses themselves in the opening act, and The Other Guys doesn€™t disappoint, Danson and Highsmith chasing the mercs that perform a jewelry robbery to the top of a twenty-storey building€ and choosing to leap off the roof after them, exhorting one another to €œaim for the bushes€. The camera follows them all the way down to the pavement, where the hotshot maverick cops leave two impossibly cool corpses. No one€™s ever entirely sure why Danson and Highsmith thought they could make it€ but it€™s probably because, if their film was a Michael Bay movie, they would have made it to those bushes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YqoI84-9vA
