10 Most Ridiculous Pieces Of Product Placement In 2014 Films

10. Pepsi All Over X-Men: Days Of Future Past

As with most superhero films these days, the run-up to the release of the new X-Men movie involved a heck of a lot of marketing. Fans oo-ed and aah-ed at any number of set photos, paparazzi snaps and the like before the official stuff started trickling out, with the early trailers and reports snaffled up in a heartbeat. One press release in the hype cycle of Days Of Future Past stood out, however. It involved PepsiCo announcing that their unnervingly green sports drink Mountain Dew would be €œjoining the X-Men universe€, which had somewhat less fanfare than the announcement that Spider-Man would be joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe. The news story was a piece of corporate synergy to celebrate the fact that Pepsi is all over Days Of Future Past. A sign is prominently placed in that scene of Quicksilver in his basement full of stolen goods, cans get scattered about the place during the Magneto prison break. At least they didn't put a broken vending machine in the dystopian future scenes.
