10 Most Ridiculous Uses Of CGI In Movie History
3. Nicolas Cage's Abs Of Steel - Ghost Rider
Stating that he spent 'four or five hours a day' in the gym when shooting the film, Nicolas Cage clearly put his all into achieving the most impressive physique possible for the role of Johnny Blaze in Marvel's Ghost Rider (2007). .
Yet, when the project eventually landed on screens, rumours began to circulate that the star's chiselled abs had actually been digitally added after the scenes were shot.
Cage completely denied this being the case and simply stated that his abs were achieved through 'Hard work. Hard, hard work.'
However, one look at some of the production photos of Cage on set reveal that the actor was indeed in great shape, but nowhere near the insane level of ripped we saw in the finished picture.
The actor did admit to having a 'flaming skull' tattoo removed by the special effects team for the mirror scene in question, so it's not entirely crazy to assume that the decision was made to digitally enhance Cage's body for the very same scene.
Did the character of Johnny Blaze really need to have ridiculously sculpted abdominal muscles on show for this one moment, though?
Whether it was unrealistically improving an already fit looking body or removing a flaming skull tattoo from a character who, you know, becomes a flaming skull, both of these CGI adjustments seem a little odd in hindsight.
