10 Most Satisfying Disney Villains Deaths Of All Time
3. Maleficent - Sleeping Beauty
Maleficent is an incredibly powerful dark fairy with the power to turn herself into a dragon and place terrible curses, who dooms a child to death because she didn’t get invited to said child’s christening. She is perhaps the most extra villain in all of fiction.
With her dark horns and haughty manner, she is patently bad news, which is probably why she wasn’t invited to the newborn princess’ party. It’s unclear whether or not she had any connection to the family, but all the same she curses Princess Aurora into a coma, which is eventually broken by, naturally, true love’s kiss. Livid at being foiled, Maleficent takes things one step further and transforms into a gigantic dragon, who is finally thwarted by a magic sword through the heart.
It’s fairly tale 101, but with that beautiful old school Disney animation, it becomes an epic encounter, simply but strikingly rendered. Maleficent is a villain so distinctive she eventually got her own film series - still, she started it in Sleeping Beauty, so a sword through her dragon heart is probably fair enough.
