10 Most Satisfying Disney Villains Deaths Of All Time

4. Mother Gothel - Tangled

Ursula Death The Little Mermaid
Disney

A jealous crone in the classic Disney style, Mother Gothel is a particularly cruel and layered take on the abusive stepmother archetype. Her rap sheet makes for stark reading: kidnapping, false imprisonment, gas lighting, and hair theft.

In this take on the Brothers Grimm tale, Gothel wishes to utilise the immortality granted by Rapunzel’s hair, but to damage the follicles would mean losing the mystical powers. As such, she traps the girl in her castle, and fills her head with horror stories of the outside world to keep her from leaving. She is finally bested when the gallant Eugene, in a moment of quick thinking, gives Rapunzel a drastic haircut. As the powers depart her locks, Gothel rapidly ages. In a nice horror touch, she sees her monstrous face reflected repeatedly in a cracked mirror, before tumbling from the tower, turning to dust before the moment of impact.

Disney spent a remarkable amount of money making this film, and you can see the production values in this scene. Gothel is a familiar character, but Tangled’s take goes to extremes rarely seen from the company, making for a hugely effective final battle.
