It's a bit weird, maybe, that the most satisfying death of a villain in the endlessly, delightfully vengeful Kill Bill isn't the person responsible for pulling the trigger and putting Beatrix into the coma that set her on her double feature vendetta. In fact, it doesn't involve eitherof the main characters.

But Bill's death is anti-climactic and, regardless of your feelings on its level of effectiveness, a bit silly.Interms of outright gratification, it's the death of Bill's brother, the sleazy redneck Budd by the hands of fellow Deadly Viper, the one-eyed Elle Driver and her trusty snake sidekick, that packs the most pound-for-pound enjoyment.

Budd, after all, is the one who buried her alive after shotgunning her in the chest with rock salt and stealing her priceless sword. Remember that scene of the startled and horrified Beatrix trying desperately to punch her way out of a coffin? That was Budd's doing.

So even though Beatrix doesn't get the chance to exact her revenge on Budd, it's somehow more appeasing to see him get bit in the face and poisoned to death inside his mobile home by the black mamba. As he writhes around on the floor in pure agony, Elle Driver reads a list of "fascinating facts" about how he'sabout to die as the venom courses through his veins and paralyzes his entire body. As the cherry on top, she expresses her respect for Beatrix as "the greatest warrior" she's ever met, and claims she "deserved better" than a Texas funeral.
