10 Most Satisfying Movie Deaths From The Last 20 Years

6. Sauron - The Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King

What a way to end the trilogy. (Well... kind of. There are still eight more endings to endure, but whatever.)

You could rightfully call the destruction of the ring and the ensuing death of Sauron more of a relief than anything, but for a movie franchise that prided itself on taking 10 hours to tell the relatively straightforward story of a Hobbit throwing an evil piece of jewelry into a volcano, they did at least make the villain's demise appropriately epic.

After experiencing the deepest love possible between two Hobbit "friends" when Samwise tearfully pulls the dangling and beaten-down Frodo back from the precipice of certain death, we're treated to the awesome chain-reaction that occurs after Gollum meets death-by-lava while clutching the ring.

An entire battlefield of Orcs are obliterated into dust while the Eye of Sauron shrieks and howls like a cat being stabbed to death with a dog. Buildings crumble, Gandalf cries tears of joy, and Merry cheers like Rocky at the end of the first Rocky.
